In this exercise, we will walk through creating a custom notification and attaching it to an existing ILT Course in CSU Learn. For the purpose of this training, we will be creating a Registration Confirmation Notification with specific location and schedule. You can utilize the checklist below to follow the steps for this activity.

Step 1: Log into the CSU Learn Staging site.
Step 2: Go to Administration > Quick Links > System Notification Templates.
Step 3: Click on NEW under the search field.
Step 4: Fill in the following required fields:
- Name: Type in your notification name.
- Template Type: Click on Browse to find the template type. For this practice session, select Registration Confirmation template.
- Primary Domain: Leave it as your campus domain.
- Language: Leave English (United States).
Step 5: Once you select a template type, the Valid Placeholders field will populate with macros that are available for this template (each macro is enclosed within a percentage sign %).
Step 1: For the Body section of the notification, you can either use campus specific template language or refer to the examples here.
Step 2: Copy/paste relevant macros into the subject and body of your notification (be sure to include the % on either side of the data value).
Step 3: You can swap the CSU Logo link with a campus specific logo URL. Feel free to add any custom messages, contact info or other details that you would like.
Step 4: Click on the small magnifying glass to the right of the Body section to preview the notification.
Step 5: When you are done making all the changes, click on OK.

Step 1: Navigate to Administration > Quick Links > Learning Activities.
Step 2: Search for your Learning Activity under Learning Management page.
Step 3: Click on the Edit button.
Step 4: Click on the Send to Stage button.
Step 5: Click on the Optional button.
Step 6: Under Notifications, click on System.
Step 7: Change the View drop down to Active.
Step 8: Look for the Notification Name that you want to change the template for.
Step 9: Click on the pencil (edit) icon.
Step 10: Uncheck the Inherit parent domain settings.
Step 11: Under the Notification Template field, click on Browse and your notification template that you created should appear on the provided list.
Step 12: Select your Notification Template and click on the OK button.
Step 13: Click the OK button when you are finished editing. You will be returned to the Notification System page where other notification templates are listed.
Step 14: Click the OK button again when you are ready to move this activity into production.
Step 15: Click on the Validate for Production button.
Step 16: Click on the Move to Production button.
Step 17: Register for this activity by using the Deep link that will be provided during the session.
Step 18: Give it a few minutes and then you should receive the registration Confirmation email in your inbox.
