This article covers how to sign into the SumTotal Mobile App to access learning activities.

Need-to-Know

  • SumTotal Mobile App is available on Android and Apple devices.
  • Custom content can be made available by the campus if is designed and tested for mobile use.  
  • Only specified compliance content is available via the SumTotal Mobile App.
  • Anything accessed on the mobile app will be saved / visible on the desktop site as well.

How to Download the Mobile App

Step 1: Go to your App Store and Search for SumTotal Mobile.

Step 2: Locate the SumTotal Mobile icon once it’s finished downloading onto your mobile device. Tap to Launch.

Step 3: Once the SumTotal Mobile App is launched, please enter the following link: csu.sumtotal.host/core/ and click on the Next button.

Step 4: Select your campus from the campus picker and click on the Login button.

Step 5: This will take you to your campus portal to log in. Please enter your credentials as you would if you were logging into the desktop site. Click on the Login button to sign in.

Step 6: For your first login, it will ask you to set up an offline pin. Click on the Done button once the pin is set up.

Choose a random pin that you will remember as this is intended for an extra layer of security that only will be stored on your device. If you forget your pin, you can always reset it.

Step 7: Once you have successfully logged in, it will take you to the Mobile Dashboard.

How to Navigate the Mobile App

Step 1: Once you have successfully logged in, it will take you to your mobile dashboard. There you will see Resume Learning and My Learning Assignments sections.

Step 2: You also have a menu area where you can quickly navigate to other sections of the mobile app. The most frequently used areas are:

  1. Courses:  Shows all current, downloaded, and assigned courses.
  2. Training Transcripts: See all completed activities and you can download a transcript report.
  3. Playlists: Create a custom track of activities to view later.

Only courses that have been designated for mobile use will show up on the app. It could be there are some assigned requirements you will see on your Desktop view that you will NOT see on the mobile app. 

The mobile app is designed for “learning on the go." You will notice a lot of development content such as books, audiobooks, and bundles.

How to Search for Content

Step 1: On the mobile dashboard, you will see a magnify glass on the bottom right-hand corner. Click on the magnify glass and if you are searching for a learning activity (courses) designated for mobile use.

Step 2: To search for learning activities (courses), click on the Learning dropdown to change your search filter.

Step 3: Type in keywords to find your learning activity and click on the Return key.

Step 4: A list of learning activities will display. You can click on the learning activity once you find it.

Step 5: The details for the learning activity will display. You can click on the Start button to watch the video.
