ILT Setups

Updated on

This article covers the different methods and steps for creating Instructor-Led Training (ILT) courses and structuring ILT classes.

Creating a New ILT Course

An ILT course is the parent activity, while ILT class and offering are the child activities that users can register for. If you're developing an ILT course that has never been offered, follow the below steps to create it from scratch. If the course already exists, skip to the section Attaching a Child Activity to an ILT Course.

Step 1: Go to Administration Quick Links > Learning Activities.

Step 2: Click New Activity > ILT Course.

Step 3: Fill in all the required fields. For more information go to Creating the ILT Course (Parent).

Attaching a Child Activity to an ILT Course

Users cannot register for the ILT Course when no active ILT Class or offering is attached to it.

This section talks about the different ways in which you can create child activities for an ILT course/Curriculum.

  • ILT Classes are recommended for courses listed as a series or those requiring multiple sessions. Creating an ILT Class allows learners to register for multiple sessions.
  • ILT Offerings are recommended for cases where you have one course with multiple session offerings. Users can choose only one offering, which simplifies registration and ensures participants cannot enroll in multiple offerings for the same course.
  • ILT Classes can also be created within a curriculum often in conjunction with online modules.

1. Creating an ILT Class for an ILT Course

You can create both the ILT course and ILT class simultaneously or attach a class later on.

  1. When you are creating an ILT Class simultaneously while setting up the ILT Course (or from within the ILT Course)

Step 1: Go to Administration Quick Links > Learning Activities

Step 2: Click New Activity > ILT Course.

Step 3: On the left-hand panel, go to New > ILT Class.

Step 4: Fill in all the required fields. For detailed explanations of each field, refer to Creating the ILT Class (Child).

  • The course and class will now be associated. You can toggle between them to modify properties as necessary.

If using an existing ILT course to create the child activity (ILT Class/offering), verify that the course belongs to same domain that the child activity needs to be offered to. For eg. if it is a Systemwide offering, then the ILT Course should also belong to Systemwide domain.
