This article will cover how to grant waivers for Systemwide-CSU and Skillsoft Percipio Content.
Need-to-Know
- Waivers should be granted if a user has completed a course to another CSU campus or has been deemed exempt from completing the training by a course owner.
- Before a course can be waived, the user must be registered for it (either by the administrator registering for the user or the user self-registering).
- CSU Learn Administrators can only grant waivers and will need access to shared domains.
- Waivers require that the CSU Learn Administrator provide a reason for the waive which can be provided in the event of an audit.
- The employee transcript will show that the course was waived in the completion status section.

For courses under a campus-specific domain, follow steps in How to Grant Waivers.
Step 1: Make sure to start the waiving process for the CSU Systemwide Domain Courses in the "Systemwide-CSU" Domain or EHS Safety Domain Courses in the "Skillsoft Percipio" Domain. To do this, go to Administration > Change.
Step 2: CSU Learn Administrators will have the following options of Domains. An option for your own campus domain, Systemwide-CSU Domain, and Skillsoft Percipio Domain. Depending on the course, select the domain and click OK. If you do not see additional domains to select from, you will need to request access here.
How to Grant Waivers
Step 1: Go to Administration > Quick Links > Learning Activities.
Step 2: Search for the Learning Activity.
Step 3: Under the Actions column, click on the down arrow and select Manage Roster.
Step 4: In the Search field, search for the user that you are trying to waive. You will need to search by their email address because you will see more than one employee with the same name. Searching by email will also display the employee that works at your campus, not another CSU campus.
If you cannot find the user, it means that the employee has not registered or re-registered for the course. You can either ask the employee to register, or you can register the employee by following the How to Register a User for an Activity instructions.
Step 5: Once you have found the user you are trying to waive, select the check box next to the user’s name.
Step 6: Then fill out the following fields:
- Status: Waived
- Status Date: Date of waiver (insert date written on the completion certificate from the other CSU)
Step 7: Click on the Apply button.
Step 8: The system will prompt you if you want to make this change. Click on the OK button.
Step 9: The Reason for Waiving window will appear.
Step 10: Under the Choose Reason drop down, select the reason. You can select "Already attended" if the employee has provided you proof from another CSU that they had already attended this course.
Step 11: Type in the reason in the Waived Notes text box field (i.e. the name of the other CSU, the date completed, and the name of the course content owner at your campus that approved waiving the course).
Step 12: Click on the OK button when you are done.
Step 13: The record will update with the waived status.
Remember to switch back to your campus domain once you are done with your waiver.
Step 14: From your campus domain, you can confirm the course has been waived by reviewing the employee's training transcript. Waive only one course at a time for each employee.
This concludes how to waive the employee.
